BACdesk is designed as a tool to support both service providers and end users during the planning, test and project phase as well as during the ongoing operation of technical systems using BACnet.
Visualization, monitoring and analysis of BACnet networks and devices are basic functional features of the application. The connection to the BACnet network is made by default via TCP/IP, the communication parameters are adjustable. If a router is used, however, communication with MS/TP devices is also possible. BACdesk can be operated like a simple BACnet device in a network, but can also function as a BBMD or be attached to an existing BBMD as a foreign device. Furthermore, BACdesk offers functions for logging, analysis, validation and for performing conformance tests for plant operators, planners or project engineers.
BACdesk complies with the B-AWS (BACnet Advanced Workstation) profile according to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 135-2012 (Revision 18) as well as the AMEV MBE-B profile. The supported services and objects as well as the further specification can be taken from the PICS. A short overview of most of the function blocks can be found in the following sections.
On the device or object level, almost all BACnet services can be called up or visualized. These include among others:
All implemented services can be called or processed in any specified variant. The exact list of supported services can be taken from the PICS.
Devices available in the network can be detected and integrated by means of various search and filter mechanisms. In case of a missing BBMD structure this is also possible via unicast messages. All objects and properties of these devices defined in the currently supported revision as well as user-defined objects and properties can be visualized, read and written if the user has the appropriate authorization. Almost all BACdesk views can be configured, filtered and exported, so that saving the current display is possible at any time and speedy work (e.g. through mass operations such as changing several setpoints simultaneously) is guaranteed.
For the visualization, different dialogs and views are available depending on the type for better readability and clarity. In addition, there are additional display options for certain object types. These include the following:
